YMCA Half-term
Activities for 4-11 year olds
‘Days of Old’ is the theme for the Half-Term fun
days for children at the YMCA. Thursday’s Clay and Jewels
session was fully booked but there are still places on Friday
for the Castle events. The morning kicks off with a visit
to Lewes Castle where your young knights and damsels will
have the opportunity to visit the site, dress up in Norman
costumes and join in olde worlde quizzes and games. If they
misbehave then a stint in the Stocks should sort them out.
After a packed lunch (provided by you) they will head back
to the YMCA where they will be making Castles out of junk
to bring back to take centre place on your mantelpiece.
If you haven’t tried them before, the kids’ activity
sessions at the YMCA are a treat. Run by an enthusiastic and
experienced group of organisers, the sessions vary between
carefully planned activities and free time where children
run about outside in the garden, kick a ball or play imaginative
games as part of a fun little gang. They also run breakfast
club and after-school club sessions for working parents. Hot
news is that they are running an Arts Council funded Art and
Fashion week in the summer, which will finish with a fashion
show. Parents of dressing-up loving girls and boys should
book into that one as soon as possible, as it will certainly
sell out. JW |
