Name: Karen Gibson
Profession: Programme Manager for the NHS, and restauranteur. I co-own Guido’s with my business partner Ruth.
Local lass? I’ve been here since December 2000. I was brought up in London.
Best thing about Lewes? There’s a very close type of community; and a great atmosphere.
Worst thing about Lewes? Nothing. I love the place.
Favourite pub? The Brewers front bar. I also like the Gardners.
What’s your poison? Harvey’s Best every time.
Waitrose or Tesco? Waitrose. I was very pleased when it arrived. I love shopping there. All we need now is an M&S.
What do you think about traffic wardens? I think they do a very good job.
Which Bonfire Society do you go to? I’m an active member of Commercial Square.
Newspaper? The Sussex Express. I don’t have time for a daily paper.
Are you pro or anti the Phoenix development? Very anti. I like Lewes the way it is.
Favourite Lewes landmark? The castle, especially when it’s lit up in the evening.
How would you spend a perfect Sunday afternoon? Doing a bit of gardening and cleaning out my chickens, Claire, Camilla and Chickpea.
What’s on your hifi? Best of Credence Clearwater Revival.
Lewes would be better if… All the pubs sold Harveys.
What Lewes really doesn’t need is… The Phoenix Development. We don’t need a new cinema anyway. If you want the high life, you can go to Brighton, it’s only 15 minutes away on the train.
