Today’s photo of the week was sent as an entry for our World Cup photo competition by Dino Bishop (forefront of picture). It was taken by his partner Alex Liccardo on a Canon digital IXUS. “We had just watched England lose to Portugal and had to carry a trestle table up De Montfort Road for a barbeque we were having for my birthday,” says Dino. “Everybody was so down about the result we decided to turn the walk into a funeral procession for England’s World Cup dream. All the cars which passed us beeped.” We like the ingenuity of the shot, and the mournful expression of the coffin-bearers. Our World Cup photo competition is still open, so keep snapping and sending in your best shots to info@vivalewes.com. Remember, thanks to the generosity of our World Cup supplement sponsors Lewes Estates, there is a Nikon D50 camera as a prize for the winner. Please send photos in by July 12th.

RIP England’s World Cup dreams: can you do any better than this?
