Name: Johnny
Denis
Profession: Public Health Manager
in the regional Public Health Team.
Local lad? Migrated to the South
Coast in 1978 from Cardiff. Hung my hat in Lewes 1978 after
my parents left home.
Best thing about Lewes? Active
and involved community
Worst thing about Lewes? Traffic,
pressures on house prices/rents,
Favourite pub? Not anymore.
What’s your poison? Oh
thanks. Mine’s a pint of lime and soda. Can I have some
ice in that?
Waitrose or Tesco? Just Trade
food co-op for groceries & sundries (http://www.justtrade.org/),
Ashurst Organics - weekly local organic seasonal veggie box
from Plumpton (Peter or Colette on 01273 891219), Lewes Farmers
Market (Common Cause 01273 470900). Frank Richards in Western
Road (best butcher in town). When it comes to supermarkets,
Waitrose preferred on the grounds that it’s my corner
shop, sells better food, and staff benefit from being Associates.
What do you think about traffic wardens?
I really liked the ones I caught dancing in the precinct a
couple of months back. Very entertaining! I’ve recorded
a bit on my phone for posterity in case anyone needs cheering
up.
Which Bonfire Society do you go to?
We watch processions in the High St and then home to let them
file past the front door then we can see Cliffe out the back.
