On the
players he has kept
There were a few rumours flying about in the summer, but we
are very happy to have kept hold of a number of key players.
Not least Siggy (Jean-Michel Sigere) our top scorer last season,
who has signed a two-year contract. There was also speculation
about Karl Beckford, Paul Kennet, Steve Robinson, Paul Wilkinson
and Lee Farrell, and I’m happy to say they are all staying.
We have a very strong squad this season, and it will be difficult
to choose which XI to put out. One player who we didn’t
keep hold of was Kirk Watts, who was extremely popular with
the fans and in the dressing room. In the end all the commuting
got too much for Kirk, who lives five minutes from Bromley’s
ground. So he signed for them. We wish him the best of luck:
I went to see him play last Saturday. It’s unbelievable,
Bromley have got six former Lewes players.”
On the pending appeal against his ban
from football
“I am currently launching an appeal against the 6-month
ban I received from the FA for swearing. The ban was from
all football, which would mean that I wouldn’t even
be able to train the team. Of course I regret what I did and
it won’t happen again, but I feel the sentence was very
harsh – it’s the same as players get for drugs
offences. I’m hoping that it will be turned into a touchline
ban, which would mean I would have to watch the matches from
the stands rather than the dug-out. If this is the case assistant
manager Stuart Cash is more than capable of taking over my
touchline duties.” |
