On his hopes for the season
“On paper we look to have one of the best sides in the league. The bookies have made us favourites to win the title – at 3-1 we are way ahead of the second favourites at 8-1. But everyone knows that football isn’t played on paper and we will have to work hard to progress. Anything else would be nicer, but our first priority this season will be to reach the play-offs again.”

Lewes friendlies at the Dripping Pan this week:

Sunday 6th August v GB Deaf XI
This team won the World Championship in Melbourne last year, and feature Lewes striker Lee Farrell, top scorer in that tournament, who will probably turn out for both sides. Prices £5/£3 (concs) £2 children

Monday 7th August v Southampton
The Saints start their Championship campaign against Derby on the 6th, so will probably put out some fringe first-team players itching to make an impression. Prices £10/£5 (concs) £3 children

Wednesday 9th August v Wycombe
Paul Lambert’s Wanderers, featuring Steve Guppy, will already be two matches into their Second Division campaign.
Prices £10/£5 (concs) £3 children

Fans who attend the first two games will be given vouchers allowing them to attend the third game half price.
