Name: Viv Howard
Profession: Landlady of the Lansdown
Arms
Local lass? I’ve lived
in Lewes all my life.
Best thing about Lewes? It evokes
such a creative spirit in people. There is so much talent
in this town: for example Arthur Brown, the Kooks and the
Laser Crabs.
Worst thing about Lewes? That
you bump into someone you don’t want to see in every
aisle of Tesco.
Favourite pub? Eeeeer! The Lansdown.
What’s your poison? Red
wine. That’s why we serve such a blinding one in the
pub!
Waitrose or Tesco (or neither)?
I was really looking forward to Waitrose, but as a vegetarian
I was really disappointed with the result.
What do you think about traffic wardens?
Answer unprintable.
Which Bonfire Society do you go to?
I’m quite busy on Bonfire Night! But I do keep
my membership going with the Cliffe and always watch the banner
going up on the 4th.
Which newspaper do you read? The
Sussex Express, to check they’ve put our listings in.
Are you pro or anti the Phoenix development?
I don’t know too much about it, but I am aware that
there is a lot of ill feeling about it in the town.
Favourite Lewes landmark? The
Pells Pool. I grew up there and I hope my kids will too.
How would you spend a perfect Sunday
afternoon? Sleeping.
What’s on your hifi? The
Hat. They played at the pub a couple of weeks ago and they’re
going to be massive.
Lewes would be better if… We
utilised the river more instead of seeing it as our enemy.
What Lewes really doesn’t need
is… An invasion of blood-sucking aliens.
