Name: Dom Ramos
Profession: Artist and muralist.
Are you local? I have lived here,
off and on, for 31 years.
Best thing about Lewes? The potential
for the castle to one day dominate the skyline of the town.
Worst thing about Lewes? The
County Council building - if it has subsidence then someone
get rid of it now!
Favourite pub? The Snowdrop as
it used to be…
What’s your poison? Intense
discussions - I don’t drink.
Waitrose or Tesco (or neither?)
I prefer Waitrose - it’s good.
What do you think about traffic wardens?
Red and Black is SO yesterday, SO Berlin 1936.
Which Bonfire Society do you go to?
I try to avoid them as I closely resemble Guy Fawkes and there
could be a nasty case of mistaken identity.
Which newspaper do you read?
London Review of Books; The Independent.
Are you pro or anti the Phoenix development?
Which Phoenix development? Barratt homes to make an identikit
town or something designed for us?
Favourite Lewes landmark? The
Leaning Tower of Lewes: St. Thomas a Becket's Church.
How would you spend a perfect Sunday
afternoon? Walking in a fold of summer downland, stopping
to make out the sounds in the air.
What’s on your hifi? Sardinian
close harmony singing. Oh, and Lee Dorsey.
Lewes would be better if…
it employed an internationally famous architect to make a
glass building beside the Priory ruins linking the two halves
of the site and attracting visitors and bringing revenue.
What Lewes really doesn’t need
is… any more council house sell-offs.
