On the other wing Derek Duncan didn’t
set the world alight, but he’s had a solid game, and
he’s worked hard. We’ve got him on loan from Orient
for another couple of games, and we’re trying to extend
that. He’s got a big future at Leyton Orient, but he’s
learning his trade and he’s enjoying it here. I think
we’ll manage to keep him for a bit longer because he
wants to stay.
It’s the FA Cup on Saturday, away against Hendon. I’ve
seen them twice this season and they’ve conceded four
both times but on Monday night they put up a good fight against
Ramsgate after they could have got murdered in the first half,
and really had the opposition rattled for a bit. So we’ve
got to treat them with respect. We haven’t had a good
FA Cup run at the club, while I’ve been here. Like every
non-league manager it’s my ambition to get the club
into the 1st round proper, and my dream to get into the third
round proper, and have a tie against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal
or Manchester United. But there’s a long way to go before
then.
We’re hoping that Siggy (Jean-Michel Sigere) will be
fit for the game. He’s had a swelling on the knee that
keeps coming back, and has prevented him from playing a full
part in the team. We gave him eight minutes on Saturday, and
the injury didn’t flare up, so hopefully he’ll
have a good training session midweek and will be in the squad
on Saturday. We’ve missed him, but we’ve got a
good pairing with Boothy and Cady up front, and he’s
quite a player to have on the bench…
