On Tuesday night we travelled to Wick in the Sussex Senior Cup. We beat them 1-0 in the same competition last year. This year we won 5-0, but we had to work hard for it. They’re a better footballing side this season, but when a team like that tries to play the ball around you can just squeeze up and wait till they lose possession, which is what we did. The game was a chance to have a look at a few young players, and they all did well. I was on the bench as a sub (not a manager). I was itching to come on but my assistant wasn’t having it. The goals were shared around. Lee Farrell scored once, Mark Goodwin got one, there was an own goal and Jamie Cade, who was on fire, got a couple.

Next up Crawley, then. I’ve got a couple of tough decisions to make as to who’s in the team. I hope as many Lewes fans as possible can make it up the road. I think we’ve got a 50/50 chance of getting through, I really do. On our day we could match any Conference side, and we’re going to go at them. That’s Lewes’ way: I’ve never played for a draw, I don’t believe it’s possible. Whatever happens, let’s hope it’s a cracking game.

Jamie Cade: 'he's on fire'. But will he make the Crawley line-up?
