That’s the end of another week, then, one in which Lewes, for one reason or another, appeared all over the pages of the national press. Some journalists were focussing on the Bonfire celebrations which blazed through town on Saturday, others were concerned about the plight of the town’s famous Harveys Best bitter, which is being taken off the menu at the Lewes Arms. Others, cannily, as journalists do, were putting the two stories together. It’s not all over, though: on Saturday, at 2pm at the Dripping Pan, Lewes FC face Darlington in the First Round of the FA Cup, and the TV crews and national journalists will be back again. Hopefully that will be another story that will run, and run. This week we’d like to thank the following people without whom this issue would not have been possible: David Jarman, John May, Louise Chavannes, Angie Osborne, Stephen Newberry, Kevin Precious, Bill Guy, Col Prescott, VA Morse, Mary Beaney.
