Somehow he got between them, left them standing in the corner, and drove into the box. Then he squared it to Gary Holloway, who knocked it home. 3-1 up and we’ve won the game.
Or have we? You should know better with Lewes. They threw players forward and got a free-kick outside the box. Aaron’s positioning was all wrong: he got the wall right but he should have been two yards further forward and two yards to his left. Their player could only have scored in one place, but he aimed there and he put it there and it was a goal. Aaron will learn from that. 3-2 flattered them, to be honest, but it was a valuable win and a good performance.
Next up we’ve got a difficult 300-mile round trip on Saturday to play Banbury in the FA Trophy. They are a division below us, so suddenly we’re the ones to beat and they’re the potential giant killers. We’ve got to treat them with the same respect as we treat any other opponents. Then it’s Bedford away the week after, who are fifth or sixth from bottom, and after that we’ve got three winnable games at home in a row, against Weston super-Mare, Dorchester and Cambridge. We’re only seven points off the play-offs now and only ten points off second place; a run of wins could catapult us right into contention.
Let’s hope for some good crowds now the new stand is built. It was half-full on Saturday, and it made a difference. The players could hear everything, because it’s right close down to the pitch. We’ll try to make sure in December that what they’ll be hearing is a whole lot of cheering from the Lewes fans. |
