Waitrose or Tesco (or neither)? Tesco do very cheap Alaskan Pollack fish fingers, 10 for 50p. I go to Waitrose for their marinated anchovies. They’re about £2.99.
Which Bonfire Society do you go to? Nevill Juvenille. I’m a member and help out where I can. It’s a brilliant night because there aren’t the huge crowds in from outside Lewes but the procession is joined by all the other societies and the fireworks are just as good as any on the 5th. It’s a good family day out, because it’s less crowded and there are less bangers.
Are you pro or anti the Phoenix development? I’m not anti, like so many people. Do you see where the problem is? It would be disappointing if they put really boring Wimpey-style buildings there, but it would be great to have a new quarter with state-of-the-art environmentally-friendly buildings and a waterfront promenade. It would be great to see loads of cafes and bars looking over the Ouse.
Favourite Lewes landmark? I like Malling Coombe, otherwise known as Big Fat Lady.
How would you spend a perfect Sunday afternoon? Doing a really good show! Sunday is my busiest work day, so a better question would be about a perfect Wednesday. And I’d spend that wind-surfing at Tide Mills after a South-Westerly wind swell.
What’s on your hifi? Lots of funk. Ween are my favourite band in the world. Queens of the Stone Age. PJ Harvey.
Lewes would be better if… There was a chairlift up from Boots on Cliffe to the Nevill estate, where I live.
What Lewes really doesn’t need is… Any more Greene King beer.
