That’s it then, in a week in which the terrible tragedy in the Broyle near Halland made everybody realise just what a brave service the firemen are doing for the district. Once again, our condolences to everybody who knew and loved the victims (see page 2). Also a week of terrible rainstorms, a full moon and gusting winds, three factors that make the ‘F’ word high up in Lewesians thoughts. Thankfully the moon waned, the rain stopped, the winds died down, the sun came out and the river refrained from bursting its banks.

This week we’d like to thank the following people, without whom this issue would not have been possible: Peter Richards and Glenn at Richards the Butchers, Miranda Kemp, Angela Pell, Bill Bruce of WJ Bruce Clocks, Wenda, Christine Hall, Lez, Sara Grisewood, Alison West, Michael Munday, Stuart from Modway, Mecca for his brave singing, Stephen Newberry, Kevin Precious, Mary Beaney, Amy Williams, Simon Clayton and John May.

This week’s contributors are: William Leith, Emma Chaplin, Emma Robertson, Esther McMahon, Dexter Lee, Antonia Gabassi, Steve King, Adrienne Campbell, Scott Chowen, Dave Wilson, Katie Moorman, Nick Williams and Alex Leith.
