Are you pro or anti the Phoenix development? Estate agents should like developments! The council and government should protect the public from unattractive and over-dense developments, especially on flood plains. With big schemes coming up let’s see in ten years’ time whether they’ve done their jobs.
Favourite Lewes landmark? Lewes golf club. What a view, and it helps you to forget your game.
How would you spend a perfect Sunday afternoon? Watching the kids play sport, playing sport myself, or watching sport on the TV.
What’s on your hifi? I can’t seem to get over my generation’s musical trend of punk, new wave and reggae. I feel music has got more varied and interesting in recent years though. It’s the Sex Pistols who do it for me, but I’m also into Gilbert and Sullivan. Somehow I’ve been saddled with the role of the Dame in the Plumpton panto every year.
Lewes would be better if… We could keep that character and spirit in a little bottle and let it out now and again when needed, for example for flood action or parking restrictions or planning applications.
What Lewes really doesn’t need is… a bigger Tesco. The Tesco empire is a really bad thing for the country and it definitely detracts from local businesses.
