Three minutes into the Weston-super-Mare game, we get the ball into the box, and their number five rises up to head it away. He could have put it out for a corner; he could have put it over the bar. What he did instead was to head it like a striker into the back of their net. It was a perfect start, and, I’m sorry, I just laughed. Poor guy, apparently he’s won their man-of-the-match award a number of times recently. But I’ll take a goal however it comes.

After that we played some of the best football I’ve seen from Lewes in all my time here at the club. The passing and movement was brilliant. Sometimes we were stringing ten or fifteen passes together, which is very rare in non-league football. The fans were singing ‘it’s just like watching Brazil’. Junior Kadi was pulling the strings, he was orchestrating the chorus, which was good to see, because he’s taken time to settle back in. He really showed his class in the middle, with his passing. The only thing that was lacking was a killer instinct in front of goal, but we did get a second before half time. Their goalie ran out to collect a ball, but he fumbled it horribly and Juke Box knocked it into an empty net.

We scored a third eight minutes into the second half: the goalkeeper parried and Boothy, goal machine, knocked in his fourteenth of the season. I decided to give a few players a rest, and I brought some subs on. This made us a little disjointed, but we’ve got a lot of games coming up.
