That’s it then, for a couple of weeks. Frankly, after putting fifty issues of Viva Lewes out on the trot, and four monthly handbooks, we’re exhausted, and we’re taking the Christmas period off. We’re not missing out on any important events -it’s all parties, pubs and quality sofa time, anyway. We sincerely hope that what you find under the tree is something that you have a use for, and that you enjoy yourself as 2006 turns into 2007. We’ll be back on Thursday, January 4th, with issue 51.

This week we’d like to thank a number of people, who made the issue possible, notably James Boyes, who provided the sinister Santas on our cover which he saw waiting for a train at Gatwick. He later wrote to us “I hasten to add that I was waiting for the train, not the Santas. They were waiting for a sleigh at the North Terminal.” Other worthies this week include: Charles Wycherley, the ladies at Casbah, Lucy at Common Cause, Alison Stringell and Jenni Gregory, Angie Osbourne, Eileen Buckeridge, Philip Carr-Gomm, Phil Rhodes, Manek Dubashand.

Contributors are: Peter Flanagan, James Boyes, Steve George, John Stockdale, Esther McMahon, Emma Chaplin, Robyn Bell, Adrienne Campbell, William Leith, Antonia Gabassi, Dexter Lee, Nick Williams, Dave Wilson, Emma Robertson, Katie Moorman and Alex Leith.

Highlights in early January include:
An interview with Dame Vera Lynn
An interview with David Arnold, author of Sixty Years on
An interview with Annabelle Nicoll, whose photo exhibition runs at Pelham House from December 14th-January 17th (see right)
A French film festival from the Lewes Film Club
James Bond at the All Saints
Watch this space. Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year…
