Which Bonfire Society do you go to? I watch the processions from above the shop, and all the fireworks from the top of Brack Mount, courtesy of some friends who live there. You can see all the firework processions.
Which newspaper do you read? I don’t take a newspaper, apart from the Sussex Express occasionally. I do do a lot of electronic newsgathering, though, on the internet.
Are you pro or anti the Phoenix development? I’m pro development, but not this one. It isn’t integrated enough - the fact that it’s planned to be so isolated would damage the High Street even more.
Favourite Lewes landmark? The cliffs, and the way they change every time you look at them, in the sunshine, in the snow…
Could you do anything to be greener? I do as much as I can. I even shred all my office paper and put it in one of my three composts! I’ve got more compost worms than you’ve ever seen. Mind you, my cherry tree died recently, so maybe I could have done a bit more to save that.
How would you spend a perfect Sunday afternoon? Sitting outside on my terrace having a good meal. We finished it last year, and it’s so sheltered, it’s the warmest place in the house. Even in the winter…
What’s on your hifi? I leave that to my husband John, who has so many wonderful records and cd’s and plays them all the time. Jazz, Cajun, Cab Calloway, Miles Davis…
Lewes would be better if… We got rid of the supermarkets and put a lot of energy into making the High Street into something like it used to be with greengrocers etc. There isn’t a greengrocer in this part of Lewes!
What Lewes really doesn’t need is… Shops on the High Street being turned into houses. We need shops so people know where to come.
