Lewes Wellbeing Fest

Most of us make wellbeing-related resolutions of one sort or another in this period of the year: at the Lewes WellBeing Festival in the Town Hall you are likely to find a support system which will help you fulfil yours. Last year’s inaugural festival, organised by Claire Kirtland, was such a success, with over 1,000 visitors, that its scope has been widened and it will now take place over the whole weekend. So for two days the hall will be filled with stalls from 66 different holders, loosely culled from the world of health and wellbeing, from vegetarian restaurants via ambulant masseurs to Reiki reflexologists.

There is a full programme of events, talks and workshops as well. Keynote speakers include Councillor Marina Pepper, who will be talking about what we can do to help avert climate change; Leo Rutherford, who will be explaining the basics of contemporary shamanism; Jacqueline Garman, who will be explaining what naturopathy is, and Stuart Mason of the Antiquarian Society, talking about astro-archeology. There will also be shows from a variety of performers from the New Age group Bliss (see page 14) to the brilliant clown Mr. Pineapple Head (see VL 48). Stage demonstrations have been arranged of various techniques including yoga, yoga for children, Tai chi, Margaret Morris Movement, pilates and salsa. For more information pick up a programme, which you will find within the pages of the January edition of the Viva Lewes Handbook. AG
