I was disappointed that they got one back before half time, against the run of play. Their winger Matty Grey showed a good bit of individual skill to put a far post cross in that was headed home by their striker Warren McBean, who got in front of Robbo. But Tyrone struck again with twenty minutes to go, deflecting in a Gary Hollway shot, to make the points safe. We were never in trouble, truth be told, but it was a nice cushion.

On Wednesday we went to Selsey in the Sussex Senior Cup. It had been raining all day, and the conditions were pretty bad. I didn’t put a full-strength side out - nine first-teamers were either injured, suspended or rested - but because of the newcomers in the squad we’ve got a bit of flexibility now. Selsey, in Division 1 of the Sussex County League, battled hard, but it was a comfortable win for us. We were leading 2-0 at the break and it finished 3-1. They scored a late goal to give the scoreline a bit of respectability. Our goals came from Jamie Cade, Ian Simpemba and Lee Farrell. We’ve drawn Horsham at home in the quarter finals. We beat them in the final last year, so that should be quite a match.

Two players won’t be involved. I’ve let David Perpetuini go, and I’ve put Mark Goodwin out on loan. The lad needs some games under their belt, to sharpen him up for the final third of the season, when we’ll need everyone we can in our chase for promotion. Next up Thurrock at home on Saturday. Hope to see you there."
