Which Bonfire Society do you go to? I’m always working up here because there’s always a Mayor’s function. But it’s the best place to watch it from because you can see down to Cliffe from one window and up the High Street in the other. And you can see all the fireworks from the roof.
Which newspaper do you read? The Mail. I got sick of how big the Times and that were. The Mail is more… concise.
Are you pro or anti the Phoenix development? If it improves the area down there I‘m for it. It’s not very nice at the moment is it? But the thing is, I don’t know if it will improve it. So fingers crossed on that one.
Favourite Lewes landmark? It has to be the castle. At day and night. And you can see it from everywhere you go in town.
Least favourite? County Hall. It’s a monstrosity. Disgusting.
How would you spend a perfect Sunday afternoon? On the Downs with my dog and the wife and family. We’d walk over to a country pub, like the Juggs in Kingston, have a pint or a bite to eat, and walk back.
What cd/record/tape is in your hifi? I’m a very big Jam fan. I love everything Paul Weller’s done, but I particularly like the Jam. I used to be a Mod. I didn’t have a scooter, but I did have a fishtail parka.
Lewes would be better if… They improved the flood defences. That would stop all that worrying about the flood. It was particularly bad here (in the Town Hall) because it was used as an emergency station for families to sleep in. Horrible couple of days, that was.
What Lewes really doesn’t need is… Any high-rise buildings.
