Fave track of all time: Mouth Full of Cavities by Blind Melon. Blind Melon stood out from the other grunge era bands as being more thoughtful and melodic. One of their fans kept pestering them telling them she had a great voice. They listened to her demos and asked her to sing a duet. Then they recorded it. This is it. Jack - Green-Tinted Sixties Mind by Mr. Big. Felix - Everlong by the Foo Fighters.
Fave LP:
Nico by Blind Melon. The lead-singer, Shannon Hoon, died of an accidental cocaine overdose. They hadn’t made much money by then. He’d just had a son called Nico, and the band released this LP of rare tracks, donating all the proceeds to the kid. Jack - A Crow Left of the Murder by Incubus; Felix - One Hot Minute by The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Mods or rockers? Mockers.
Clash or Jam? The Clash. The Jam. The Clam.
Oasis or Blur? Early Oasis, later Blur.
Lennon or McCartney? Lennon. The Frog song was a belter, though! I saw Paul McCartney at Glastonbury a couple of years back. Three of us had these cuddly toy frogs on big poles, though we’d added piercings and suchlike onto them. We were making them dance in unison, to try to get him to play the song. He never did, though.
Last live gig you went to: Turning Green, Drookit Dogs and Big Hairy Band, in Brighton last month. Every time I see Turning Green I think they’re even better than the time before. Which I wouldn’t have believed possible. They’re the best band in the area at the moment. Jack - The Kooks.
Recommended listening: Turning Green, Blind Melon, Incubus, Muse, and, of course, The Laser Crabs.
