I’ve been able to play my front eleven only three times this season, against Welling at home and against Dorchester and Crawley away. We won all three games, scoring four, four and three goals. It’s frustrating for a manager when the best-laid plans go awry.

On Saturday we’ve got a very tough game at Newport. I watched them this week, and they’re a good side. They’ve been on a good run recently, but they’ve just lost two games: and anyone can beat anyone in this league. I wouldn’t be too disappointed with a draw from Newport, but we’ll be looking for a win, as we always do.

After that we’ve got a run of games against teams that are below us in the league - the likes of Eastleigh, Yeading, Dorchester, Weston and Bedford, followed by an incredible March in which we will be playing all the teams above us in a row (bar Bishops Stortford). We need a bit more composure in front of goal so we can rack up some points in February, before we roll our sleeves up for a March which will really sort the men from the boys. Let’s just hope that we can do it with our best eleven players - then we have every chance of reaching the play-offs.

Next two games:
Saturday 27th Jan Newport (away)
Saturday 3rd Feb Eastleigh (home)
