Boothy got a brilliant third on 68 minutes. Robbo clipped the ball over their back four from well inside our half. Boothy’s first touch was excellent, controlling the ball on the run. Their keeper came flying out, and with his second touch Boothy took it round him. With his third, from 25 yards, he rolled the ball into an empty net. A defender was chasing it back but he just put enough pace on it for it to get there first.

We could have had more, but I’m not greedy. They thought they’d got one back with 15 minutes to go, but it was disallowed because they’d pinned our goalkeeper. They put one behind him and one in front of him and stopped him from jumping by holding him down on the blind side of the referee. It often works, but this time it was spotted.

There was a great feeling at the end of the match as the 600 or so fans cheered us off. Nice sunny day, we’re top scorers in the league now, and there’s a bit more optimism in the air. But it’s out of our hands now - I’ve banned talk of the play-offs in the dressing room. We just have to take every game as it comes. I’m telling the players to go out there and enjoy their football. They are, and it shows. Let’s hope we can keep up this momentum, and you never know what might happen.
