On Wednesday night (around the time this magazine goes live) we’re playing Worthing at Horsham in the semi final of the Sussex Senior Cup. There’s no way I’m going to take this game lightly: the winners play Brighton in the final and that’s a game that I want us to be in. And then on Saturday we play Welling in the league. They are another physical side, and another side who are in the pack chasing the same play-off spots as us. They’ve got games in hand, but this could work to our advantage, as we’ll be their third opponents in five days: they played Braintree away on Tuesday, and face Thurrock at home on Thursday, a game which will take place in Gravesend, because their floodlights aren’t good enough for evening matches. We beat them 4-2 at the beginning of the season: it was an unbelievable performance on our part. Every player clicked, and they didn’t know what had hit them. Let’s hope we can repeat that sort of performance on Saturday. It’s a real six pointer, and we’ll be fighting hard to finish with our noses in front, hoping, once again, that after winning the battle, our quality will enable us to win the game.
