What is your favourite shop in Lewes? Three spring instantly to mind. For food it’s Cheese Please, whilst I get all my earrings from the Box Room downstairs in the Needlemakers, and clothes from Coconut, just outside our door.
What sort of businesses do you think Lewes needs to attract?
There definitely appears to be a shortage of men’s clothing shops, and my daughter would definitely like to see some more affordable teen fashion shops.
Would a redeveloped Phoenix area be good for the town? As I’ve only been here for nine months I’m not fully up to speed with all the facts. I don’t think a development of some sort can be ruled out, but from what I’ve read, local opinion appears to be mainly against this particular proposal.
What do you think about the idea of pedestrianising the centre of Lewes? My initial worry would be that removing the through traffic could lead to a lot less passing trade which won’t benefit anyone. I think there would have to be a radical parking overhaul before it could be considered.
Could you do anything to make your business greener? We’re investigating re-cycled card and paper - we currently use sustainable stock. We also recycle all of our toner and print cartridges.
Any expansion plans? We’re happy with our office space, but we are investing heavily in new equipment, including some new hi-tech scanning facilities.
Is there anything you always get asked?
“Can you do it now?”. (We always try to say yes).
What’s you top tip for our readers? Plan ahead and try not to leave everything to the last minute.
