That’s your lot, then, in a week in which the temperature dropped to normal early April levels after a few days of balmy sun, presumably causing severe discomfort to the girl who we saw on the High Street on Tuesday who’d chosen to wear flip-flops to work. A week in which the Iranian hostage crisis deepened as the detainees were coerced into apologising for ‘trespassing’ in front of the TV cameras (how did they get those grins on their faces?). And also a week in which it was announced by the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution that air pollution caused the premature deaths of over 24,000 Britons a year.

This week we would like to thank the following people without whom this Easter issue would not have been possible: Catlin’s for journalistic refreshment, chocolate and men’s jewellery, Jane Zara, Steve Parsons, Paul Myles, Tom Reeves, Danny Cooklin, David Burroughs, Anna Hayman, Beryl Bartter, Kevin Precious, Anna Johnston, Antony Penrose, and Simon Dale,
This week’s contributors were: David Jarman, Emma Chaplin, Rachel Littlejohn, Emma Robertson, Antonia Gabassi, Scott Chowen, Nick Williams, Katie Moorman and Alex Leith.

Next week’s highlights include:
Thursday 12th: MEP Caroline Lucas talks on climate change and the peak oil crisis at Pelham House
Friday 13th: The Film Club present the Iranian neorealist movie ‘Offside’ at the All Saints
Saturday 14th: The Mayor’s Vintage Ball at the Town Hall
