One of the aims of Transition Town Lewes is to facilitate forums where we Lewesians can regain local control of our resources from food to energy and everything in between. Localisation is seen by many to be one of the pathways to solving the energy crisis and climate change.

The power of localisation lies in the fact that many individual actions add up to big changes, and that small changes in our personal behaviour have a cumulative impact on society as a whole. At a time when government consensus is moving towards tradeable, global per capita personal green house gas allowances, the power of the individual is at the heart of the power of the community.
Caroline Lucas is the MEP for the South East. One of her chief concerns is the impact of oil on "food security". Poorer nations need to put the food they grow on their own tables before exporting it to us Westerners, and in turn we should consider growing the food to put on our own tables.
