Name: Mark Wilson
Business Name: Hartley Quinn Wilson
What do you do? We specialise in sympathetic building renovation and design, and have restored many period properties in and around Lewes. Internally, we design and install high quality bathrooms, kitchens and other furniture.
How long have you been running the business? Personally, I’ve been in the trade for 17 years. Hartley Quinn Wilson will be celebrating its tenth anniversary in September.
Where is the business based, and what was on the premises before? We’ve taken over what used to be Cooksbridge station, and it now functions as our office, showroom and design centre.
What’s the most expensive service you offer? Our full service includes everything from design and project management through to the completion of the entire building works. The client ultimately dictates the size of the budget.
And the cheapest? Our initial consultation is free.
And the most unusual? A circular kitchen in a converted radio tower in Jersey.
What sort of people do you work for? Busy professional people who want a high class finish without the worry of having to micro-manage the project.
Is their anything that annoys you about your trade? The number of allegedly highly skilled trades people who don’t live up to the billing.
What is your favourite shop in Lewes? For shopping I like to visit Adamczewski and the flea market in Market St. For food it’s Waitrose or a trip to the The Boat House organic farm.
Recommend somewhere to eat out: We’ve had lovely meals in both Lazatti’s and the Real Eating Co recently.
