Classical Music - Commemoration Concert

Members of the Brighton Festival Chorus and the Brighton Festival Youth Choir are holding a commemoration concert at St. John Sub Castro in memory of Sue Richards, whose unexpected death in September greatly saddened the many friends and acquaintances she made in her incredibly dynamic and event-filled life. She was a founder member of Brighton Festival Chorus in 1968, and a driving force in the creation of the Youth Choir in 2002. “The concert will be a celebration of Sue’s life,” says the Chairman of the BFC, Angela Pullen, “and we have chosen to sing works by Monteverdi, Rachmaninov and Bruckner which represent her great love of choral music.”

“We will perform two of the Vespers by Rachmaninov and a couple of motets by Bruckner which we know Sue particularly enjoyed,” she continues. “The Brighton Festival Youth Choir will be singing 'Deep River' and 'Every Time I Feel the Spirit' and a number of former members who have moved on from the Youth Choir will be returning for the occasion. We hope Saturday will be a memorable occasion, which we will be trying to keep upbeat and positive.” The concert is free, but any donations made will go towards a seating area in the Pells Park, where two trees have already been planted in Sue’s memory.
