If that goal was good, the second he scored, mid-way through the second half, was even better. Siggy picked up the ball in midfield and put a curling pass with the outside of his foot into Wormy’s path, down the left. Wormy, seeing that Siggy had continued his run into the box, put in a pin-point cross and Siggy headed it into the net. More celebrations. Great goal.

Considering what a difficult season Siggy’s had he’s still managed to knock the goals in, scoring 12 in 21 games. That’s the sort of strike-rate you’d expect from a good striker. You’re looking for one in two games. Boothy’s got 26 goals in 37 starts. If they’d played together more, and Siggy hadn’t been so affected by his injury when he did play, imagine how many goals they might have got together. Next season.

I rested a number of important players in the match to give some of the others a chance. I didn’t start Boothy, Wormy, Cadey, Farrell or Juke Box. I thought the lads who came in all did well. Next season is very much in my thinking already. I’ve got plans. Next week it’s Farnborough at home, for the last game at the Pan this season. They’re a good side and they’re on a good run. They’re a footballing side, like we are, and it should be as good a game as the hobbledy bobbledy pitch will allow. It would be nice if a big crowd turned up to applaud the lads after a long, hard season.

Last home game Farnborough Sat 21st April
Last away game Bishop's Stortford Sat 28th April
