What sort of business do you think Lewes needs to attract? Any businesses which help retain the character of the town would be welcome, because I believe the Independent shops are one of the key drivers for tourism to the town.
Would a redeveloped Phoenix area be good for the town? I can’t see it helping the existing town, and fear it would potentially split the town in two. I’m also not impressed by the ‘vision’ of a new bridge to Tesco - that just madness.
What do you think about the idea of pedestrianising the centre of Lewes? I think it’s the worst idea I’ve heard in ages and it could kill the town. If you’re not convinced it would be a bad thing, pay a visit to pedestrianised Newhaven.
Could you do anything to make your business greener? We try to recycle as much as we can in the shop. We also constantly encourage our suppliers to provide us with as many local flowers as they can, but I also accept that this not always possible for them to do.
Any expansion plans? We’re always looking at ways to improve the shop and the visibility of our flowers for customers. At the moment we’re happy with the space we have - world domination can wait a little longer…
Is there anything you always get asked? Q: “How quickly can you make a bouquet?” A: “Usually within 15 minutes”.
Give a top tip to our readers: Here are three:
Put flowers on your shopping list, treat yourself as well as others and when you get your flowers home, re-cut the ends before putting them in to water.
