That’s that, then, in a week in which the May skies emptied their liquid lot onto the grateful earth and everyone started moaning about the weather again, digging deep in their wardrobes for winter coats long put away for the season, and fishing out umbrellas. A week in which George Bush’s ratings plummeted lower than ever after three soldiers were taken captive in Iraq, to go with the 3,400 Americans already killed (and nearly 70,000 Iraqi civilians). A week in which Paul Wolfow***z let loose with a four-letter tirade after accusations of corruption. And a week in which Gordon Brown was given an easy ride into No. 10, a residency he already occupied anyway.
