This week’s photo was taken by local tenor Paul Austin Kelly. “The shot is taken in one of the chalk pits above Lewes - right above the Chalk Pit Inn, I believe. It’s one of the scenes that I see regularly, about two or three times a week when I’m out with the dogs”, he tells me. “For the past year I’ve taken to carrying my camera around with me every time I go up there, and on that afternoon the light caught it just right. And the shape of the bowl that the chalk pit sits in looked really appealing”. Paul took the picture on his Canon Ixmus 750 camera, although he admits to photo-shopping it around a little on the computer. “I did a bit of dodging just to take some of the shadows back and pull the colours out, but otherwise it’s pretty much as is.” We like the colours and the way that the white chalk paths lead the eye along from the tree on the right.
