This week’s photograph was taken by Paula Black. “It was taken with a simple digital put-it-in-your-pocket-and-forget-it type of camera” she told me. The picture is of a thistle at Durlston Head, in Dorset. We like the shadows within the plant and the depth of field lending a sense of distance between the plant and the sea. We think the sunlight hitting the spikes of the thistle-heads makes them look like little hedgehogs. Paula doctored the picture to increase its effect. "I lightened the image slightly to sharpen up the contrast between the sky and the sea.” As we keep saying, we love getting your pictures so keep sending them in.
