This week’s photograph was sent in by Annabelle Curtis. She took it when she was walking in New Road on an overcast day recently, on her Nikon D70. “I like the intriguing bleakness of the image; there's a desertedness that reminds me of a Hopper scene" she says. We like the converging lines created by the perspective and also the way that the bleached lemon of the road markings adds an element of colour to the left side of the picture. Annabelle admits that this effect comes from a bit of digital tweaking. “I took all of the colour out on photoshop and turned the picture into monochrome, then I put back the yellow colour in the double lines as a contrast”.
