What is your favourite shop in Lewes? I like shops with clear identities and their own unique style - like Flint, Adamczewski and The Laurels.
Recommend somewhere to eat out?
Bill's for breakfast, Chaula’s for a takeaway (but I’m looking forward to the restaurant opening), and The Griffin in Fletching, which is a great country pub.

What sort of business do you think Lewes needs to attract?
Well it no longer needs a patisserie, but still needs a few more independent (non pizza and pasta) restaurants.
Would a redeveloped Phoenix area be good for the town? Based on the plans shown so far, I’d say not. However, I’m happy to be proved wrong if it would benefit the town as a whole.
What do you think about the idea of pedestrianising the centre of Lewes? I think the town needs passing trade. Local business is already suffering enough with the ill-advised parking scheme.
Could you do anything to make your business greener? We’ve opened with the aim of keeping waste to a minimum, and aim to recycle everything we can. We will also encourage customers to bring their own containers to collect cakes in.
Any expansion plans? Yes. We have a backroom and a garden area, which we would love to open up as dining areas, so that our customers can enjoy a cake and a coffee on the premises.
Give a top tip to our readers: A high quality cake is guaranteed to improve any social or celebration event!
Is there anything you always get asked? Q) Is it true you open on Sundays? A) Yes we do, from 9am - noon. But we do close on Monday.
