How would you spend a perfect Sunday afternoon? Some of it would probably be spent in the Grange Gardens, which I love, with my husband and our two daughters. And the rest? Probably rehearsing one of my favourite plays in the afternoon with a group of equally committed colleagues and friends.
What did you have for breakfast? Muesli with yoghurt. I also always have vinegar and water to drink which sounds really strange but I have arthritis and it's meant to be a good herbal remedy.
What film would you recommend to a friend? My favourite film of all time is Casablanca and I know every shot in it. Of the films that I have seen recently I really enjoyed ‘Chinese Seamstress’. It is a very beautiful, lyrical love story.
Are you pro or anti the Phoenix Development? I think it’s fair to say that I am pro because no town can afford to stand still. There are lots of people in Lewes who need homes and I’m told it would bring affordable housing. I’d also like to see more facilities for young people. There are a lot of kids looking for an identity and they don’t know where to find it. We do have a youth theatre at LLC, and we are hoping to build it up. It is important to give young people a sense of who they are in order for them to develop the skills to express themselves creatively and not destructively.
What do you think Lewes lacks?
As above and a cinema. Lets just say we hope that at some time LTC might expand to offer more facilities.
Recommend somewhere to eat out: Being a vegetarian I love Seasons. It is a family business, very ethical and run by fantastic people. I would like to see a vegetarian restaurant in Lewes that opens in the evening, though. On special occasions we love re-visiting 'Conversations at Shelleys' which I began seven years ago for good food, a lovely setting and stimulating debate.

Of all the gardens, in all the towns, in all the world…
