Gig - Rock in the Bog 4

Four years ago the Cliffe Bonfire Society bought a ten-acre field off Earwig Corner in Malling. They wanted a back-up firesite in case there was ever a danger of them losing access to the field off Ham Lane where their anarchic annual bonfire, firework and effigy-exploding celebrations take place. Tonight they are holding a fund-raising concert in their new field for the fourth year running. This year the event will run overnight, and punters are welcome to camp both nights. There are parking facilities available.

Friday night’s entertainment is provided by Under The Gun, a five-piece, three-guitar ZZ Top/Lynard Skynard-influenced ‘Dixie rebel’ band, who specialise in playing to biker conventions. On Saturday music starts up in the afternoon: Electric Howdown are followed by the fabulous Laser Crabs, headed by former Lansdown Arms manager Ben English, whose song ‘Paint the Town’ won’t leave your head for days after you hear it. The bill is completed by experienced R’n’B outfit Rum Boogie. There will be a bar open until midnight both nights, and a hell of a mess to clear up on Sunday morning. AL
