Name: David Herbert.
Business name: Herbert Scott Financial Management.
What do you do? I’m an independent financial adviser, and the managing director of Herbert Scott.
How long has the business been running? Kevin Scott and I merged our former businesses eleven years ago and set up an office in Station Street. We moved to Temple House in the High Street eight years ago.
What was on the premises before? Directly before us it was a gym, and my desk is where the rowing machines used to be. Before that, it was Greenpeace and the building was built on the site of the former Cinema Deluxe.
Who uses the business? People who take their finances seriously and appreciate a personal service.
What services does the company offer? We aim to provide financial solutions - everything from strategic inheritance tax planning, to advice on investments, pensions, life assurance and mortgages.
How much do these services cost? We offer a free initial consultation to all new clients, and after that it depends on what you want done.
Any unusual products? Most people think that for inheritance tax planning to work, you have to live for another seven years. We actually have some investment solutions, which give tax savings after only two years.
Is their anything that irritates you about your business? The bureaucracy and the paperwork.
What is your favourite shop in Lewes? Intersport on Cliffe High Street. Their service is excellent.
Recommend somewhere to eat out? Palin in Station Street as I’m a big fan of Thai food. Also you can’t go wrong with the South Street Fish & Chip shop.
