More of the same, and by that we don’t mean the unexpected bonus of a sunny Sunday after that massive storm in the morning. Rainy spells, breezy winds, low pressure stuff all the way. A note of optimism for early August, though - an Azorean high pressure zone is expected to make a challenge, leading to drier, sunnier weather.

Train News
Is once again excellent. According to National Rail Enquiries there are no engineering works concerning Lewes station over the next two weekends, and therefore no need to travel by bus through Haywards Heath to see what happens when chains take over a High Street.

TV Movie Highlight
Titanic (BBC2, Sunday, 6pm)
James Cameron’s three-and-a-bit hour Oscar-gobbling high-seas nonsense which came close to sinking in the water, but was saved by old-fashioned performances by Leonardo di Caprio and Kate Winslet. Good stuff to fall asleep to on a Sunday evening.

Desert Island Discs
A reminder that on Friday morning (20th, 9am) there’s a second chance to hear Oliver Postgate, creator of Ivor the Engine, Noggin the Nog, Bagpuss and The Clangers, and a man with Lewes connections, talk about his life.
