That’s your lot then, in a week in which a Biblical storm blew over Lewes, soaking those brave enough to camp in the Rock in the Bog Festival in Malling and waking just about everybody else in town. The good news? It cleared the air, creating a gorgeous summery Sunday, our first since April. Also, a week in which the Guardian announced the discovery of a new type of giant lion-eating chimpanzee in the Congo, and, following the ‘defacement’ of the Long Man of Wilmington last week, pagans were further irked by the appearance of a vast image of Homer Simpson next to the Cerne Abbas chalk giant in Dorzet.

This week we would like to thank the following people, without whom this issue would have been but a pygmy marmoset in comparison to the Gigantopithecus it turned out to become: Phil Booth, Lou Johns, Steve Turner, Richard Durrant, Chris Atkins, David Herbert, Mike Lance, Simon Dale, John Carey, Geoffrey Whitfield, Tom Reeves and Erika Pratt.

This week’s contributors were: Emma Chaplin, Emma Robertson, Catlin, Steve King, Adrienne Campbell, David Jarman, Scott Chowen, Nick Williams, Katie Moorman and Alex Leith.

Next week’s highlights include:
Saturday 28th: Lewes v West Ham at the Dripping Pan
Sunday 29th: The Lewes to Newhaven raft race
Monday 30th: The Lewes Guitar Festival kicks off

For what we are about to receive: the raft race is on its way, and the
rafters about to get egg on their faces
