This week’s picture was provided by editor Alex Leith, who took it from the ferry taking him from Le Havre to Newhaven on Monday. “I realised when I was on holiday that the sun would set during the journey back, so I was eager to take the shot,” he says. “As I was snapping the sun sinking into the sea, or appearing to anyway, my girlfriend was telling me about the ‘green flash’ phenomenon when the sun turns that colour for a second or two at sunset. Sadly it didn’t happen. But the orange sky made up for it. The picture, which I took the moment the sun disappeared, has not been doctored in any way.
