That’s your lot, then, after a week in which the sun finally came out and the temperatures rose to a seasonal norm of twenty plus, which is still colder than we remember late July to be, but, hey, that’s the nature of halcyon-days memory syndrome. Also a week in which the longest military operation in British history ended as the last troops moved out of Ulster, and in which a deepening crisis in the American financial market had a knock-on effect in the UK. Don’t mention the ‘R’ word…

This week we’d like to thank the following people without whom this issue would be a paltry overdraft compared to the hefty bank loan it has turned out to become: Lawrence Hill, Mike Turner, Robin Williams, Holly Swain, Tessa McCormick, Viv Cecil, Donna Southern and Meryl Stringell.

This week’s contributors were: Emma Robertson, Emma Chaplin, David Jarman, Catlin, Antonia Gabassi, Nick Williams, Scott Chowen, Katie Moorman and Alex Leith.

Next week’s issue will cover the subsequent fortnight. Highlights include:
Friday 10th: A whole week of The Simpsons Movie, as the All Saints cinema goes all blockbuster.
Sunday 12th: Dieppe Raid 65th anniversary commemoration in Newhaven.
Wednesday 15th: Much Ado About Nothing in the Gun Garden.
Friday 17th: Another week of back-to-back screenings, this time of the latest Harry Potter, the Order of the Phoenix.
