This week’s picture was sent to us by John Stockdale, who took it from the top of Malling Down. “I often go walking there in the morning,” he says. “About two weeks ago it was very misty, and when I reached the top I was faced with this interesting sight. You normally get a wonderful view of Lewes, but the town was completely obliterated by mist. This, I thought, is how the National Parks Commission would like to see the town. Completely bowdlerised out of existence.” He’s referring, of course, to the Commission’s recent decision to advise against the town being included in the National Park scheme, unlike the rest of the surrounding area. As we keep saying, we love getting your pictures in, so please keep them coming.

Ghost town: a view of Lewes through the National Parks Commissioner’s eyes?
