Wave Leisure
Since April 2006 Wave Leisure have been responsible for the running and upkeep of the five main Lewes District Leisure Centres. These five centres are of course open throughout the year, providing reasonably priced, high quality sports and swimming facilities to the people of the district. The pools at Lewes and Newhaven also offer intensive swimming courses targeted at all ages and abilities, plus of course being open at all other times for leisure swimming. For younger kids, Peacehaven and Lewes Leisure Centres also have soft play areas, which may help use up a bit of excess energy from time to time. For more detailed information on the centre’s prices, courses and opening times, visit the website at:

Wilderness Wood
Located a few miles out of Lewes at Hadlow Down, Wilderness Wood is a family-run area of working woodland. The site contains a whole bunch of things for kids to use up energy on, including trails and playgrounds, plus there are various picnic spots and a tearoom to keep the fuel levels up. Wilderness Wood remains open every day of the year, and they often have special events taking place. More details on these, and directions to the wood, can be found by calling 01825 830509 or on their website:

We’ll provide the wood, you provide the wilderness…
